Spaying & Neutering
PJ's and Pets Unlimited strongly believe in promoting responsible pet ownership. A big part of that is encouraging new puppy or kitten parents to have their pet spayed or neutered as soon as he/she is old enough. This helps keep your pet healthy and safe and prevents unplanned and unwanted litters.
Spaying or neutering is Good for your Pet.
- Spaying or neutering helps dogs and cats live longer, healthier lives.
- Spaying or neutering can reduce the likelihood of your pet developing a number of different health problems that can be difficult and/or expensive to treat.
- Spaying a female pet eliminates the possibility of uterine or ovarian cancer and greatly reduces the incidence of breast cancer, particularly when your pet is spayed before her first estrous cycle.
- Neutering a male pet eliminates the possibility of testicular cancer and decreases the incidence of prostate cancer.
- Spaying a female pet prevents unwanted male attention from neighbourhood pets, and neutering a male pet can keep him from roaming in search of a mate.
- Neutering a male pet can help curb undesirable behavior such as mounting, aggression towards people or male animals, and indoor territory marking.
- And the #1 reason to neuter or spay - once fixed they cannot contribute to the overpopulation of unwanted pets.
We urge you to discuss this procedure with your Veterinarian, and to have it done when your pet is sexually mature (usually at about 6 months of age).
As a thank you for being a responsible pet owner we will provide a $25 gift card to owners that have their PJ's puppy or kitten spayed or neutered (see store for full details).
